Are you lonely?
According to the World Health Organization, loneliness is becoming a growing epidemic with fatal effects, so as the holidays arrive this year we should reflect on today's question in earnest.
WRITING PROMPTS to help you explore today’s topic:
Write about your own experiences with loneliness. Does it help you to know that you're not really alone in those experiences? Does reflecting on those experiences make you more, or less, compassionate with others currently experiencing loneliness? Why?
Write about five to ten things you could do within the next twenty-four hours that would make you feel less lonely, or that could make someone else feel less lonely. Or write about both.
Write a fictional scene with a character who is experiencing loneliness. How do they navigate this experience?
Write a poem that captures the essence of loneliness.
My response to today’s question:
Today, I decided to write a short fictional scene in which a character is experiencing loneliness. Keep reading to see what I wrote, then leave a comment to join this dialogue.
