One-Star Romance by Laura Hankin is a cute rom-com, and makes for a good beach read. When you're done reading it, you will definitely be in a better mood.

I appreciated how the main character develops over the course of the story, along with her love-to-hate and hate-to-love interest, Rob. However, I didn't find myself rooting for them as a couple and didn't see them as having much chemistry in the end, unfortunately, especially during their more intimate scenes, which seemed a bit awkward and forced sometimes. And at times I found the main character to be incredibly self-centered, which made it difficult to care about her in the beginning, but eventually she does seem to grow out of that, for the most part.

I also had a hard time reading about Angus's character at points in the novel and found him to be a bit cartoonish, to the point that his character wasn't very believable most of the time, aside from one scene. And I sadly wasn't drawn to Gabby's character either and found her to be too distant and talked about by the main character more than she was engaged with over the course of the novel. So, it was hard to feel empathy for what her character ends up going through.

This novel will be ideal for a PG-13 audience who wants a super cheesy happy ending, which can be a good thing when you need a quick pick-me-up.
