WRITING PROMPTS to help you explore today’s topic:

  1. How do you think we can end mass shootings? By enacting legislation? By social movements? By holding one another responsible in day-to-day life? Reflect on real-world possible solutions that won't lead to more mass violence. Write about your ideas and how you would like to go about activating those ideas.

  2. Write a short news article about a mass shooting, real or fictional. Consider what you would want highlighted in the news story if you were a publisher with millions of readers.

  3. Write a fictional scene about someone who has been personally affected by a mass shooting. Consider: What are they thinking? What are they feeling?

  4. Read We Are the Light by Matthew Quick, or a similar book, then write a review about the book.
