What I wrote below is based on the following writing prompt: Write a poem about magic, or something that is magical.
Magic is:
Magic is that which can be explained by science and rationality but shouldn’t be strictly thus: The earthy smell in the air before it rains A baby’s first breath in a new world Butterflies fluttering around a stomach Falling in love for the first and last time The weight of water on bent palms A hatchling’s first flight from their nest Heartbeats pulsing lips just kissed Experiencing déjà vu during silent rest The cherished memory of a scent A child making a new best friend Electricity charging bonds linking holding hands Staying in love despite vast distances The sound of gravity when understanding hits A life force full of integrity and hope Euphoria beating across rhythms and drums Building over half a lifetime around true love The fading sunrises of sunsets that cycle again A story that lingers and resonates Emphatic empathy connecting generations Drafting words into sentences Magic that I know exists because I experience it living life every day in new and familiar ways as I write and breathe in the world and its language where there is no logistical logical structural need for a list to appreciate the marvels of life deep within and surrounding me.
