To me, poetizing your life entails regularly observing the nuances of your surroundings, as well as the people in them, and then writing about them all in an intimate way—or at the very least, appreciating those things and people as they are, by jotting down detailed mental notes about them to revisit and evaluate later.
Poetizing your life entails practicing regular awe and gratitude for the things and people you encounter in your daily life, which is more difficult to do when you aren't writing about them, but still possible to some extent I suppose. Although I highly suggest writing about them to get closer to them and understand them, as well as yourself, better.
We're often dissuaded from using romantic or literary language, or more intimate language, to describe our surroundings and life and the people around us. We're often discouraged from using adjectives and flowery metaphors. But why? How else are we supposed to appreciate the essence of a thing, a person, a state of being, a thought, or the world around us?
To me, poetizing your life can involve writing poems about what makes up your life, sure. But it's more about appreciating and being mindful of the world around you—how it is, and how you see it in certain fleeting moments. Poetizing your life is a practice that entails mindfulness, purposeful mediation, awe, gratitude, consistency, and a bit of honest bravery. And what better way to do that than to start writing about all those things and people in your life that inspire awe and gratitude, in your own authentic voice, as soon as possible?
